Rowlands at Macy's 34th Street.....a lovely basement hideaway. The bar has a few customers and the grill smells heavenly like grilled onions. I ordered the Turkey Club and it arrived in a short time covered with delicious fries. I'm a new customer. The customer service is great. Check it out.
12/20/24 After hectic few hours of shipping at Macy's I was starving. Headed to the lower level to try. Wait to be seated was less than 10minutes. Staff friendly and engaging. Ordered burger fries and beer. Bit pricy but it's the city. Enjoyed the meal probably return if back at Macys and hungry
There are few places in midtown that aren't full of tourist and filthy. We needed somewhere fast as it was the half way point for everyone's next destination. Who knew this gem was right in the basement of Macys in herald square. The place is nice and clean, we sat at the bar and ordered some drinks and apps. It's a good spot to escape the madness outside, grab a drink and take a load off. I was surprised my friend even found it.
This place is incredibly hard to find inside the department store but is cute once you do! The food was pretty good, nothing special. They seemed to be a tad understaffed, even when not busy. Steven is incredible. Not sure what his actual job is bc he seems to do it all (with a smile)! He made our time here before a show at MSG so worth it.
While the service started not great it ended amazing! Super great and (turned out) very attentive and friendly staff. Super cozy restaurant secluded in the basement of Macys Herald Square. Slightly pricey but really yummy food!! I have spoken about the burger at least 10 times since I last went. So juicy and full of flavor. Great little bar too!! I will definitely be back when visiting Macys.
Can't believe I'm giving a restaurant located on the lower level of Macy's 4 stars, but here we are. I have eaten at Rowlands a bunch of times over the last few years ( before the pandemic shut it down for the meantime ) and it's actually a nice spot to grab a bite while out shopping. Clean modern decor. Friendly staff. Good food. I've had the fish & chips and the crispy falafel burger. Both were actually really good. Definitely a bit pricey though, but I guess that's the touristy fee for being in Macy's Herald Square! Still, there are a lot worse places to eat in this part of town. This one is surprisingly decent.
